Today, with many other boxes across the nation, we’ll be honoring Travis Manion. Travis died 11 years ago on April 29th 2007. The numbers used for the workouts are directly related to his death date. 400m run for April (4th month of the year), 29 back squat for the 29th and 7 rounds for 2007.

“MANION”

7 rounds for time:

400m run
29 back squats 135/95

First Lieutenant Travis Manion, 26, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Camp Pendleton, California, was killed by sniper fire on April 29, 2007 while fighting against an enemy ambush in Anbar Province, Iraq. He is survived by his father, Colonel Tom Manion, mother Janet Manion, and sister Ryan Borek.

Note: If you’ve done this workout before or you would like an extra challenge, don’t use a rack. This means that the bar must be taken from the ground, clean and jerk and back rack it before each sets of back squats. As with any other hero workouts, give it all, endure the pain, push through, when it gets tough, remember that these heroes did the ultimate sacrifice and gave their life for others. 2.8K run and 203 back squats is nothing compare to what Manion had to endure. Let’s do this!
