Awesome showing for the Strongman event at @crossfitpyro this last Saturday. So incredible to watch all these athletes moving such heavy loads and odd objects. Also impressive is how smooth the event was. Well done @rokathletics !!! Congrats to all the athletes competing and notably the top 5 who qualified for the Hercules challenge. Sweet skills everyone!!

Pyromania 6, individuals (scaled and Rx), Friday August 19th and Saturday August 20th

This year, we're teaming up with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to create awareness about mental health and how to get help for you or somebody you know. All profits will go directly to the association. Plus, we will be able to take donations on site and provide information about the programs.

This was a PR for me by 1min over last year, 31:57Rx with a 20lbs vest. The darkside started to creep in.

Did you know that in a high-rise building, firefighters never take the elevator all the way to the floor where there’s a fire? ⠀
⠀
We often carry upwards of 100lbs of gear and equipment with us when we go in. If an alarm is on the lower floors, we’ll just take the stairs, but if an alarm is on a higher floor, we will carefully use the elevators. However, we don’t go directly to the fire floor. ⠀
⠀
Firefighters will usually stop the elevator two floors below the fire and walk up the last bit. This allows us to see the layout of the floor, locate hose cabinets and standpipe connections, as well as visualizing what smoke conditions are like in case the fire is spreading. We can also set up a staging area for extra equipment when we need it. ⠀
⠀
Fires in high-rises are complex affairs and take extra time for access and preparation. Help us by evacuating quickly using the stairs and avoid using the elevators unless you absolutely need them. #themoreyouknow

WOW!!! What a blast Pyromania V was. Congratulations to all the athletes participating, the workouts were no jokes but everyone was up to the challenge. No matter the end result, we all grew and got fitter. Everyone displayed great sportsmanship and character. The CrossFit community is truly incredible.
